6 Easy Ways to Make Exercise Your Top Priority Before Summer Arrives
Spring has come to relieve us of the frigid winter weather. As quickly as we begin to rejoice, we will soon be welcoming in summer. And you know what that means…summer fashions and activities. If you’d like to look your best on the beach, it’s time to start getting into exercise for spring.
Just a few simple changes, and you’ll be rocking a fit and fantastic look!
1. Keep a journal
Write down what you eat, how you feel, and your goals. Going through them, you’ll see where your weak points are and be able to avoid common pitfalls that previously destroyed your fitness efforts.
2. Make small goals first
If your goal is to lose weight, make mini-goals on the way to your ultimate goal. And make small goals within that too. For example, you can’t force yourself to workout for an hour each day if that’s not what you’re used to. But you can start by walking 15 minutes a day 3 times a week and increasing it gradually.
3. Find ways to move more during the day
Instead of taking the elevator, choose the stairs. Park further from the grocery store entrance to get in more walking. Meet a friend to catch up but do so in the park where you can walk and talk. There are countless ways you can add more movement to your day and those things count toward burning calories, so do them!
4. Do something you enjoy
If you glance at the clock 10 times in one minute on a treadmill, chances are, that’s not for you. But don’t get discouraged! Inside and outside the gym, there are plenty of other ways to exercise. A personal trainer might be just what you need to help you discover a fitness activity that you’ll actually look forward to doing.
5. Don’t make weight loss harder
The less sleep you get, the more likely you’ll be to eat something that isn’t healthy. Your stress levels will also send cortisol levels soaring which can add more weight to your waistline. At night, set a bedtime alert and start sticking to it. The more good sleep you get, the less hard work you’ll have to do for your fitness.
6. Partner up with a friend and a personal trainer
Friends can encourage and even come along on our fitness journey. But another person who will cheer you on and be in your corner is a personal trainer. Expertly trained to know how to perform the best exercises, hiring a personal trainer is one of the best things you can do to make exercise your top priority.
