How to Make Sure Your Personal Trainer’s Efforts Aren’t in Vain
Getting healthier and in better shape can be difficult on your own, so many of us turn to personal training by a professional trainer to help us reach our goals and keep us motivated. However, no matter how much effort a personal trainer puts into your training regime, it may all be fruitless if you aren’t pulling your share of the weight to get you happier and healthier. So how do you do that? Well take a look at the advice below to make sure your personal trainer’s efforts as well as your hard efforts aren’t in vain.
Set a Goal that is Realistic
Before you even begin the personal training process you need to sit down with your personal trainer and figure out what your goals are. Figure out what you want to you want to gain (or lose, i.e.) and how much time you want to do it in. Make sure the goal is realistic too; if you are 100lbs. overweight a goal of 6 months really isn’t very likely or if you are a 5’11” woman and want to get down to 110lbs. you might want to rethink that goal.
Don’t Forget to Eat Well
A good personal trainer can do a lot of things, but they can’t work miracles. No matter how much training you do in the gym with your personal trainer your results may not be so-so if you’re eating a lot of junk food outside of the gym. So make sure to eat healthy with a lot of fruits, vegetables, lean meats/fish and whole grains to help your personal trainer to get you in shape and healthier. A few yummy treats now and then are fine, but restrict the sweets or fatty foods to special days/meals so that your personal training goals stay within reach.
Stay Motivated
You’re going to go through levels of motivation throughout your personal training routine where one day you’re pumped and ready to workout, then other days you can barely get yourself to the gym. It happens to the best of us, but when these moments of discouragement or tiredness come along, you need to push through it and find a motivation that will keep you going, striving towards your goal. Talk to your personal trainer about ways to keep motivated and reach your goal as a good personal trainer will have a big bag full of tricks to get your motivated and on track again, no matter the reason your motivation waned.
