Physiotherapy- rehabilitation exercises for skiing/snowboarding
No doubt that craze for skiing and snowboarding is increasing day-by-day. Before even the season starts, it is common that we see people start their preparation for the upcoming thriller, but forget to take note of some of the important exercises, which should be performed before going for skiing or snowboarding. There are a lot of plyometric exercises and power lifting for people who got injured performing such type of risking sports. But it is important first to understand the type of injury and then going for physiotherapy training according to it. It is important to take maximum rest after injury, but after the resting period is over; it is also important to follow an exercise routine to get recover quickly.

1. Closed Chain Exercise:
Closed Chain exercise is an exercise in which the foot is in contact with the board. This exercise helps to stimulate the proper recruitment of muscle, which indeed help to increase the functional movements of the body, helping to give the best coordination between our body and the board. This exercise is very important for fresher’s or experienced skiing and snowboarding sportsmen.
2. Exercises for lower back:
In skiing and snowboarding, it is observed that the sportsmen are most likely to hurt their lower back very badly. The injuries in such place happen because of fatigue and lack of control, resulting an increase stressed in the pelvic area. In such cases, increasing of the mobility of the body is required, which means the person has to restore its body flexibility and efficiency by recruitment of lower back that its abdominal area. Moving the lower back lightly, will surely help to regain its mobility.
3. Exercises for knee:
Another part of the body, which mostly gets hurt, will undertake skiing or snowboarding is the knee injury. The entire body load is at the knee, and if we fall or get our body in an imbalanced state, then surely our knee is going to get injured. In such cases, exercises like walking, bending knees till you can bear it, quads and hamstrings strengthening. All the above-mentioned exercise will help recover the knee injury at a faster rate and as well as will help to keep the body balance maintained by reducing any stress to it.
